Latchkey Seniors

Our mission

Latch Key Seniors offers practical solutions that use modern home technologies and digital tools to support seniors' independence while enabling caregivers to have Peace of Mind.

Our vision

A world where seniors and their caregivers both use smart home technology and digital tools to have an enriched, high-quality life.

Our Founder & Host

William Teasley created Latchkey Seniors to address the complexities of caregiving by leveraging smart home technology and digital tools to shift from reactive crisis management to proactive support.

William continues to be inspired by friends who are facing the challenges and stress in caring for our seniors. After participating in an AgeTech Atlanta event, he decided to share what he was learning about the technologies and tools with his peers. Their feedback was the kindling for Latchkey.

With a Bachelor of Science in Management from Boston College, a Master of Education from George Washington University, and thirty years of professional experience in management, research, and technology implementation, William is dedicated to alleviating caregiver stress and enhancing the quality of time spent with loved ones.

CAREGIVER INSIGHTS

Economic Impact:

Senior caregivers form the hidden backbone of the US long-term care system. An estimated 59 million unpaid family caregivers provide 49.5 billion hours of care annually, generating an estimated $1.01 trillion in economic value—a figure that exceeds all private-sector health care spending and outpaces national Medicaid spending.

Macro-Economic Impact:

Unpaid caregiving work equates to roughly 24 million full-time workers, or 17% of the entire US full-time workforce. Without this unpaid labor, the formal healthcare and Medicaid systems would be completely overwhelmed.

Mental and Emotional Toll:

Studies show that a majority of family caregivers report high levels of emotional stress, anxiety, or depression. Watching a loved one's physical or cognitive decline is often cited as the most difficult emotional burden.
